Monte Rosa Serizzo, also known as Serizzo Ghiandonato,
is a pre-Triassic granitoid orthogneiss, of medium grain and
augen-textured. It has a white background with black streaks
which can be as fine as a millimetre, caused by levels of
biotite which define the foliation and outline the quartz
feldspar “eyes”.
Thanks to its physical-mechanical characteristics, this stone
is the only one of the Serizzo family that can be cut
parallel to the vein as well as perpendicular to it, resulting
in two completely different patterns.
Monte Rosa serizzo can be used in a wide variety
of applications, from civil and industrial building to street
furniture, from interior decoration to cemetery monuments.
THE QUARRY
Monte Rosa Serizzo is excavated from our own quarry,
which occupies an area of 40,000 sq mt near the small town of
Ceppo Morelli (Province of Verbania); its precise location
is an area known as Case Opaco, close to the great east face
of Monte Rosa (4633 mt). The firm produces gangsaw, milled
and blockcutter blocks; its products are used both in the building
sector and for decoration.
